We specialise in designing accessible environments for both residential and commercial clients. We believe the challenge of accessibility is not a barrier to innovation and our approach to client centred design will often give us new ideas to explore.

We manage schemes from start to end. This provides a focussed and cost effective service to help deliver projects on time and in budget. The Idapt Design team make client goals their own and use their skills and expertise to deliver a project that meets the brief.

We act as an expert accommodation witness for both defendants and claimants. Each report is delivered with a design overview, written assessment of requirements and carefully costed adaptation proposals. This gives you confidence to rely on our reports throughout litigation negotiations and during Court proceedings.

We will find properties that will match an individual’s accessibility requirements. We carry out detailed searches and provide a property accessibility report. This allows the client to be confident they are making the right choice for their current and future needs. We understand our clients are unique when it comes to finding a suitable property.

Ben Burton
Partner - Pg Dip Surv, LLB
Ben joined Idapt Design in 2011 and brought a new dimension to the team. Ben previously worked as a claims handler for DAS Legal Expenses. He has developed a sound understanding of the insurance market and the efficient management of clinical negligence and catastrophic injury claims.
Ben qualified as a solicitor in 2009 with a well respected City law firm. He has a good understanding of the legal claims process and in particular the requirements of Part 35 CPR in relation to expert witness reports. Ben is still on the roll of solicitors but does not currently hold a practising certificate.
Ben has completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Surveying with the University of Reading. Ben has worked closely with Nigel since joining Idapt Design and now takes the lead on a number of our adaptation projects.

Nigel Burton
MCIOB, MAPM, MAPS, MCMI
Nigel is a well respected and experienced building surveyor. He has a particular expertise in the design and project management of disabled adaptations. Nigel's early career (1977-1985) was spent as a District Building Officer with the NHS Estates. Nigel was responsible for the management of capital programmes, overseeing refurbishment of the NHS Estate and managing the maintenance teams.Nigel started his own practice in 1985 to provide surveying and project management services and has over the years built a varied client base, including private individuals, local authorities, companies and work in relation to insurance claims. Nigel's main area of work is centred around the design and project management of disabled adaptations. He has considerable experience in delivering considered and practical schemes.
Nigel is also regularly asked to provide expert witness evidence for court proceedings and he has acted for both claimants and defendants.
